Nicolo Tresoldi: The Young Football Prodigy Set to Make His Mark in European Football
In the competitive world of football, emerging talents continually strive to leave their mark on the sport’s grand stage. One such promising athlete is Nicolo Tresoldi, a talented young striker currently making waves with the Germany Under-21 national team. At just 22 years old, Tresoldi is not only focused on helping his team secure a place in the upcoming European Championship but also on achieving personal milestones that could cement his legacy as one of the sport’s future stars.
Chasing Records and Drawing Inspiration from Legends
Nicolo Tresoldi’s journey is marked by ambition and a keen desire to excel. He is currently chasing records with the Germany U-21s, aiming to surpass the legendary Pierre Littbarski’s record of 18 goals in European Championship qualifiers. Tresoldi has already scored 16 goals in his international youth career, bringing him tantalizingly close to this historic benchmark. With a decisive qualifier against Georgia approaching, the young striker is determined to make a final push and secure his place in football history.
What makes Tresoldi’s story even more compelling is his admiration for football icons, particularly in the realm of goal scoring. While he openly admits to being a fan of Lionel Messi, he recently found himself in a room associated with one of the most prolific goal scorers in history—Cristiano Ronaldo. During his stay at the elegant Hotel Klosterpforte in Marienburg, near Harsewinkel in East Westphalia, Tresoldi had the unique opportunity to stay in a room formerly occupied by Ronaldo, who used the same hotel during Portugal’s preparations for Euro 2024.
“It was a coincidence,” Tresoldi explained in an interview with ran before the crucial European Championship qualifier scheduled for Tuesday evening in Bielefeld. “I just got my room key, went there, and suddenly saw the name above the door: ‘Ronaldo’s room’. There are pictures of him hanging there. I’m a Messi fan, but it’s still quite special.”
Preparation and Ambitions for the European Championship
As Tresoldi prepares for the upcoming European U-21 Championship, which is set to take place in Albania and Serbia from June 16 to July 3, his focus remains sharp. The upcoming match against Georgia is pivotal; a win would secure Germany’s spot in the finals, and Tresoldi’s goal tally could play a crucial role. The young striker is aware of the significance of this opportunity and is eager to contribute.
Post-tournament, Tresoldi faces a pivotal decision regarding his international future. He has expressed a desire to weigh his options between representing Italy, his country of birth, and Germany, the nation where he has developed his football career. As he stated, “I will definitely play at the Under-21 European Championship if we qualify, and I believe we will. After that, I’ll decide between Italy and Germany.” This dual-nationality dilemma is common among talented footballers and adds an intriguing layer to his career trajectory.
Future Prospects and International Aspirations
While Tresoldi’s immediate goal is to help Germany’s U-21 squad reach the European Championship, his long-term ambitions extend beyond youth competitions. He has hinted at the possibility of playing for the senior national team of either country, depending on how his career unfolds and the opportunities presented to him.
Interestingly, Tresoldi has revealed that he has not yet been in contact with Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp, despite his growing profile. “My heart is split 50:50,” he admitted at the start of the training camp, emphasizing that his decision will ultimately depend on where he feels most fulfilled and where he can make the greatest impact. Nevertheless, the fact that he has taken on the captain’s armband in the absence of Tom Bischof demonstrates the leadership qualities that coaches and teammates alike admire.
The Role of Confidence and Leadership in Tresoldi’s Development
Selection coach Antonio Di Salvo describes Tresoldi as “a classic centre-forward,” highlighting his unique style of play. “We don’t have many players like him, and he’s definitely good enough to make the leap to the senior national team,” Di Salvo affirmed. Indeed, Tresoldi’s calm demeanor and natural goal-scoring instincts have made him a vital asset for Germany’s youth setup.
His teammates also speak highly of him, emphasizing his laid-back personality and unwavering love for football. Joshua Quarshie, a defender on the team, remarked, “Tresoldi is just a very relaxed guy who loves the game and stays true to himself. We all benefit from having him around.” Such camaraderie and confidence-building qualities are essential for any athlete aspiring to reach the highest levels of football.

From a broader perspective, Tresoldi’s story exemplifies the pathway of modern footballers who combine talent with strategic career planning.
