The Esports Foundation Reveals New Details about the Esports Nation’s Cup Qualification
The Esports Foundation (EF) has recently announced new details about the qualification process for the upcoming Esports Nation’s Cup (ENC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event is set to take place from November 2 to 29 and will feature players from over 150 countries and territories across 16 esports titles, including chess.
Chess Qualification Path
For the chess event at the ENC, a total of 128 players will qualify to compete in Riyadh. The players can secure their spots through three different routes: 64 players from the Champions Chess Tour leaderboard, 61 from regional qualifiers, and three wildcard entries.
Regional qualifiers will be open to an unlimited number of players from each nation and are scheduled to take place between June 6 and 14. However, only a maximum of two players per nation can advance to the ENC Finals.
Wildcards and Solidarity Slots
In addition to the players who qualify through the leaderboard and regional qualifiers, three wildcard spots will be available for the chess event. Two of these wildcard spots, known as Solidarity Slots, are designed to provide opportunities for underrepresented countries and territories to participate in the ENC.
Countries and territories that have not already qualified in more than one game title can apply for the Solidarity Slots between July 20 and August 17. The organizers will select the nations for these slots based on competitive strength and regional representation after the qualifiers conclude.
“The ENC is all about showcasing esports talent from around the world and giving players the chance to represent their countries on a global stage,” said Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer at EF. “We want to open doors for more countries and communities to participate at the highest level of competition.”
Full Support for Wildcard Entries
Participants selected for the wildcard entries will receive full travel and accommodation support to ensure their participation in the ENC. This support is aimed at encouraging more players to compete and experience the thrill of competing at the highest level of esports competition.
Overall, the qualification and wildcard system for the ENC aim to promote global diversity and inclusion in esports, allowing players from all backgrounds to showcase their skills and represent their nations in this prestigious event. With chess being one of the featured titles, players from around the world have the opportunity to compete on an international stage and make their mark in the world of esports.
